Houston, TX – Minhaj Welfare Foundation (MWF) hosted an appreciation dinner on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Double Tree Hilton hotel on Northwest Fwy Houston to commemorate its 35 years of dedicated service to humanity. The event brought together MWF donors and notable dignitaries from the Houston desi community, marking a significant milestone in the foundation's history of impactful humanitarian work.
The evening featured a series of inspiring speeches and presentations that highlighted MWF's extensive achievements and the profound impact it has had over the past three and a half decades. The celebration was not only a testament to MWF's enduring commitment to service but also an acknowledgment of the generous support and involvement from the community.
Allama Saeed-ul-Hassan Tahir, Director of Minhaj-ul-Quran Center Katy, and Hassan Khan both hosted the event and served as stage secretaries. The evening began with a beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran by Qari Umar Abu Hatim, with the translation read by Ms. Areeba Sharjeel. Pirzada Muhammad Hasnain recited a beautiful nasheed, setting a reflective and appreciative tone for the night.
Imam Mohammed ElFarooqui, Imam of Maryam Islamic Center, delivered an insightful speech in English, emphasizing the importance of charity in Islam and recognizing the vital work of MWF and other charitable organizations. Allama Afzal Ahmed Qadri, Director of Minhaj-ul-Quran Center Porter, delivered an inspiring speech in Urdu, highlighting the significance of charity and acknowledging MWF's global humanitarian efforts.
Maqsood Qadri, President of MWF USA, delivered a speech highlighting MWF's achievements and its vision for growth in the USA. Syed Imad Pasha Qadri, Vice President of Minhaj-ul-Quran Houston, expressed his gratitude that MWF has chosen Houston to launch its operations in the USA and highlighted the organization’s achievements.
Keynote speakers included MJ Khan, past president of PAGH and ISGH and a three-term councilman of the City of Houston, and Dr. Asaf Riyaz Qadeer, past president of APPNA. They commended MWF’s global efforts and praised the founder of Minhaj-ul-Quran, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, for his remarkable achievements in humanitarian work. They also lauded his efforts to promote interfaith and intrafaith harmony and peace worldwide.
Awais Anwar, Operations Manager of MWF North America, provided an elaborate presentation summarizing the MWF projects that have served humanity over the past 35 years, showcasing the foundation's substantial contributions and future plans.
A special recognition was given to the late brother Razi Niazi for his lifetime of charity work. An award was presented to his son Mukarram Niazi and his brother Naeem Niazi in his honor.
The event concluded with a heartfelt dua by Dr. Qamar Al Azhari, Director of Minhaj-ul-Quran Center Humble, bringing the evening to a reflective close.
The dinner served as a platform to express heartfelt gratitude to the donors whose contributions have been instrumental in advancing MWF's mission. Their generosity has enabled the foundation to provide vital services and support to those in need globally.
In addition to celebrating past achievements, the event also reinforced the strong bonds within the Houston desi community. It showcased the collective effort and solidarity that have been essential in making a meaningful impact on the lives of many.
