MQI Draman comes into being

Located in the suburbs of Norwegian capital, Oslo, beautiful Daraman city is a home to large number of Muslim community of Pakistani origin since 1970s. Owing to the efforts of people with religious fervour and taste, a religious organization by the name of Jamat-i-Ahle Sunnet came into being in 1987. Efforts were initiated for the religious education and training of children. A government school in the beginning and a big hall was hired later on in a locality dominated by the Pakistani community in 2002 for this purpose and Allah be thanked that these efforts continue with zeal and zest. Besides this, in 1996, 2200 square meter land was purchased for construction of a Mosque and Islamic Centre but due to delay in the approval by the City Council, the plan could not come through. Approval was finally granted for the construction of Islamic Centre in 2008. A large number of people associated with this Mosque were already regular listener to the speeches of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri and were impressed by the work and personality of Shaykh-ul-Islam. Having been impressed by the work of MQI Oslo chapter especially its educational activities, they merged this grand project with Minhaj-ul-Quran International in order to run it effectively on scientific lines for larger cause. Now a grand Islamic Centre of Minhaj-ul-Quran International is being built up on the same place and it has cost about four million Norwegian crowns.

On the request of MQI Daraman in March 2009, the services of MQI Oslo Director, Allama Noor Ahmad Noor, were transferred to Daraman Centre followed by the organization process at that centre. Within a period of one month, organization of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League, Minhaj-ul-Quran Sisters League, Minhaj Reconciliation Council, Minhaj Welfare Foundation and Minhaj Education Council was completed. In addition to that, Consultative Council and Fund Raising Committees have also been established. Education happens to be the special point of focus where changes are being brought about in the educational system to bring it on modern lines. Separate educational classes have also been initiated for men and women where arrangements for religious educational and spiritual training have been put in place. First such spiritual gathering was held in March which was attended by 40 people who worshiped their Lord throughout the night for seeking repentance and His forgiveness.

During his telephonic address to the workers of MQI Oslo, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri felicitated all the workers of MQI Norway on the establishment of Daraman Centre and made special prayer for it. He also instructed the members and workers to take part as much as possible for the successful completion of all projects. A large number of office holders and workers were present at the occasion including Afzla Ansari, Pervez Nisar, Zafar Sial, Lala Bashir, Ijaz Ahmad Warriach, Irfan Ansari, Raja Ashfaq, Zaeem Shaukat, Iftikhar Mahmood, Shaukat Mahmood, Sheikh Arshad, Shahid Tufail, Muhammad Yasin, Salma Zafar, Rafia Raoof, Uzma Hamid and others.
