Prof. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri delivered an inspiring lecture on "The Sufi Path: Living in the Footsteps of Ahl al-Bayt" on the last day of Al-Hidayah 2024.
Dr. Hussain Qadri was joined by Chairman Supreme Council Dr. Hassan Mohiuddin Qadri, President Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League International Dr. Ghazala Qadri, Mrs. Fizzah Hussain Qadri, and Shaykh Ahmad Mustafa al-Arabi al-Qadri.
In his address, Dr. Hussain Qadri emphasized the significance of the company of Sufi saints (awliya Allah), describing their gatherings as gardens of paradise. He explained that participating in these gatherings bestows blessings of faith, insights into belief, teachings of the Quran and Sunnah, love for the Prophet ﷺ, the light of wisdom, remembrance of Allah, love for Allah, the journey towards Allah's presence, and His grace.
Dr. Hussain Qadri highlighted the importance of good company by referring to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who compared good company to a perfumer and bad company to a blacksmith. Sitting with a perfumer, one inevitably benefits from the pleasant scent, whereas sitting with a blacksmith leaves one tainted with soot. He also cited Haqeem Luqman’s advice to his son to sit among scholars and listen to wisdom, just as fertile soil benefits from rain. This emphasizes the transformative impact of good company on one's spiritual growth.
Dr. Hussain Qadri highlighted that the gatherings of the saints are the most valuable and blessed because their personalities, faces, and gatherings radiate divine majesty. These saints guide people to Allah Almighty through His grace.
Through the example of Imam Hussain (A.S), Dr. Hussain Qadri illustrated forgiveness and generosity. When a servant lost 200 dirhams, Imam Hussain (A.S) gave him 400 dirhams instead, teaching the lesson of compassion and forgiveness. Imam Hussain (A.S) was known for his exceptional care and concern for his family, setting an example of responsibility and love.
Concluding the session, Dr. Hussain Qadri summarized the key principles of
the Sufi path, emphasizing the importance of spiritual companionship,
purification
of the soul, moral integrity, and fulfilling the rights of others. He provided a
comprehensive understanding of living a life inspired by the Ahl al-Bayt and the
teachings of the Sufi masters. Dr. Hussain Qadri stressed the need for
continuous self-improvement and adherence to the teachings of Islam as guided by
the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his family, the Ahl al-Bayt.
Esteemed attendees and a substantial gathering of youth from across Australia graced the event with their presence.
