10-day gatherings mark month of Muharram

By the grace of Almighty Allah (SWT), the MWL Rotherham Sisters organised ten-day Muharram gatherings for the local sisters, which started on 15th of October until the 24th of October.

The congregations took place at different sister's houses. They were held at Sister Naila Malik's (MWL Rotherham General Secretary), Sister Hamida Riaz's, Sister Ayeda Sayed's (MWL Rotherham Dawah secretary), Sister Sajida Bhatti's, Sister Rukhsana Shafique's, Sister Abida Zaheer's, Sister Razia Chugtai's and Sister Mamoona Qayyum's houses.

A set pattern was followed for all gatherings. They began with recitation of the Holy Qur'an, followed by half an hour’s recitation of Durood Shareef by all the sisters.

Sister Shaheena Qureshi (MWL Rotherham President) commenced the programmes by reciting various passages from the Irfan-ul-Quran including Surah ‘Lahab’ and Surah Ikhlas with translation. Sister Mamoona Qayum spoke about the brutal tyrant Yazeed. She explained beautifully how Imam Hussain (RA) fought against Yazeed's injustice and oppression. Although the army of Hussain (RA) was small in numbers in comparison to Yazeed's but victory was indeed Imam Hussain’s (RA). Sister Shaheena Qureshi also spoke about the tragic events of Karbala from the heart touching book ''Falsafa e Shahadat'' by His Eminence Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.

Beautiful ‘Manqabats’ were sentimentally recited in honour of the Martyrs of Karbala by sister Salma Saeed and sister Iqbal Malik.

Sister Iqbal Malik finished the gatherings by sending Salaam on our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings upon him).

Emotional Dua's were made by Sister Nazreen Akhtar and Sister Naila Malik (MWL Rotherham General Secretary).

The sisters felt that they benefited from all the speeches and prayed they are able to learn from the lessons of Sacrifice and Patience of Karbala. They completed the recitation of the Quran four times collectively in these blessed gatherings and recited Surah ‘Yaseen’ numerous times. Over these ten gatherings, the sisters recited 271,000 Durood Sharif.

Refreshments were served at the end of the Mehfils.
