MYL-S promotes soft image of Muslim through community outreach

On a pleasant summer afternoon MYL-S Birmingham hit Chamberlain Square to spread some love and joy into their city.

The aim was to get as many participants to write a simple yet powerful message about peace and anti-terrorism. People from all walks of life gathered around the humble display and jotted down their thoughts on post-stick notes. Some even held their message proudly whilst taking a Polaroid picture!

Our purpose wasn't only to get people writing but to also spark conversation. To answer controversial questions about Islam and terrorism.

By the end of the day we had hoped we portrayed a positive image of young British Muslims. We ourselves learnt so much about different cultures and beliefs and are thankful for being part of such a warm and welcoming community.

Special thanks to Birmingham City Council and Birmingham Met Police.
