MWL office holders visit nursing home MWL office holders visit nursing home

On Thursday 27th August 2015 Minhaj-ul-Quran International Women League London visited Daken House Nursing Home in Newham to spend sometime in the company of the elderly as well as patients with mental health problems. The members of the Women League support local causes in the community. This particular project was chosen as it had been recently highlighted that many of the patients at the care homes miss their families and friends at times of festivals like Eid, Christmas, and Diwali etc.

The Women League members were amazed at the lovely welcome they received by the staff as well as the majority of residents. They met many members of staff including the manager of the care home. Although many of the patients suffered with dementia - Everyone with dementia was different. For some patients the main problems that they experienced was dementia-related, whereas for other people with dementia their main problems was caused by a different condition, such as a stroke. Many of the residents were happy to see visitors, others found it very difficult and challenging especially who had painful conditions and those who are seriously ill.

President MWL London, Mrs Rukhsana Sarfaraz, and the team hope to carry on with the visits to the Nursing Home and by donating gifts to the residents hope to raise smiles on special occasions.
