On Monday, the 18th November 2013, Minhaj Women League (Halifax) held its Muharrum programme at the Minhaj Education Project Halifax. Over 120 ladies and sisters attended the programme.
The programme began with the ladies reading Durood sharif, it then continued with a short introduction by the Women League President Sister Naid. Quranic recitation tilawat was done and then Sister Iffat Women League General Secretary recited a Hamd. The program continued with a short ‘Munqabat’ on Bibi Zainab (RA), read by Sister Safeena from Halifax. Sister Robina, Women League Training Secretary, continued the programme by reading a ‘Munqabat’ on Karbala, followed by another ‘Munqabat’ by Sister Jamila Akhter, MWL UK Finance Secretary.
Sister Iffat called Sister Sajida, Women League Dawah Secretary, for a naat. Followed by Sister Shaila Parveen, Women League Media Secretary, sharing a heart touching detailed English account of the events leading up to Karbala, The Journey to Karbala, the battle itself and the lessons learned from it. She shared some quotes given by Shaykh-ul-Islam on Karbala as well. Sister Naid now continued by sharing the benefits of reading ‘durood sharif’, and how everyone needs to have ‘halaqa darood’ in their homes. Sister Sobia from Halifax gave an Urdu talk on Muharram and Karbala. She threw light on the sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his family to save Islam. Everyone was touched by the talk.
The women were then shown a ten minute clip of Shaykh-ul-Islam’s Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri’s speech on Karbala. In the video Shaykh-ul-Islam highlighted the importance of the Prophet (S.A.W)’s mercy upon us. The programme continued by doing a heart touching zikr lead by Sister Naseem, Minhaj Women League UK Senior member. There was Salam and greetings offered on the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) led by Sister Jamila Akhter, Minhaj Women League UK Finance Secretary. The programme concluded by a warm Dua.
