Minhaj-ul-Qur’an Women’s League (Bradford) had the pleasure of hosting Muharam program for sisters in the honor of Imam–e – Hussain (RA) and his family. The program was held on Sunday, the 10th of November 2013 at 2:30pm. The attendance of the women was approximately over 200. This report will highlight some of the activities that took place on the day, with reference to the special guests from Nelson.
Durood Sharif recitation
Individual Durood Sharif was recited between of 2:30 – 3 pm. This was in order to start the mehfil promptly at 3 pm and allow time for sisters to gather.
Tilawat– e-Quran:
The opening of the program was done with sister Rubina who had the blessed opportunity to recite the beautiful verses of the holy Quran with the translation taken from Irfan-ul-Quran. The verses recited were taken from Surah Al Ahzab verse 38-40. The program was hosted by Sister Rubina who spoke about the various events that took place on the 10th of Muharam and what significance it has had for Muslims today.
Hamd, mankubat and naat session
After this the session of Hamd, mankubats and naats remained underway until maghrib prayers at 4:30 pm. After this session, time was allocated for those who were fasting to open their fast and for sisters to perform Maghrib Salah. The mehfil was resumed after prayers with Sister Rubina introducing Minhaj Education City to new sisters and the importance of Shaykh-ul-Islam’s message regarding the this mega project of MQI. Sisters where requested for their donations in this mission.
Speech
Sister Tahira from Nelson was allocated time for her talk regarding the events and lessons of Karbala. She commenced with the recitation of the Quran, Durood Shareef and Salam. Sister Taira engaged the audience to make a pure intention and concentrate with what will be offered. She continued from what sister Rubina had spoken about the various events that occurred on the 10th of Muharam. She highlighted the various acts that happened on the day of ‘Ashaurah’. Sister Taira then spoke about loving the family of the Prophet, peace be upon him and various ahadith that have been narrated. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) said:
‘Hussain is from me and I am from Hussain.’
Sister Taira then spoke about Karbala and how 72 members of Prophet’s family who were martyred one by one in the way of Allah. This left many sisters moving at hearing how cruelly Yazid treated the beloved family and children of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This talk lasted for an hour.
Salat–o–salam
After the talk, various verses of salat-o-salam were gifted to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his family. Many sisters had an opportunity to recite the greetings and salutations on the Prophet (peace be upon him).
Dua
Sister Taira concluded the gathering with Dua asking for forgiveness and guidance for all the Muslims and the acceptance of prayers of those who had come to the mehfil. Special dua was made in the name of Imam-e-Hussein for Shaykh-ul-Islam and the mission of Minhaj-ul-Quran. The mehfil ended at 6:30pm. Food was provided at the end for everyone to eat. Special arrangements were made for those who were unable to sit on the floor. Both the youth and the sisters helped serve the food collectively.
Book sale:
There was an allocated book stall which was established to sell books and DVDs of Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri both in English and Urdu. The stall was able to collect over £100 through the book sale. The special purchase of the day was the book by Qibla Huzoor called ‘ah’ly bait adhar kay fazail wa manakib’ which was gifted with a free Milad Raza Qadri CD. Overall, the Mehfil was a great success with the women and the youth cooperating to work together in order for the event to run smoothly. The outcome of the women was also overwhelming and their praise was very encouraging for future programme.
