Shaykh Hammad Mustafa al-Madani al-Qadri delivered a powerful address at the 63rd Annual ISNA Convention, exploring the model of leadership found in the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and its relevance for Muslims, particularly the youth of today.
Beginning with the importance of returning to the original source of Muslim inspiration, Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Qadri reflected on the transformative mission of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, who brought humanity from darkness towards knowledge, mercy, justice and guidance.
Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Qadri highlighted the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as the greatest example of transformational leadership. His ﷺ leadership did not simply guide people towards a common goal; it transformed individuals, communities and societies, enabling those around him to become better, enlightened and capable individuals and leaders themselves.
Drawing from key moments in the Prophetic Seerah, Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Qadri highlighted essential principles of leadership, including peacemaking, service to others, integrity, justice, compassion, forgiveness and the ability to transform those around us.
From the peaceful resolution of the dispute over the placement of the Black Stone, to Sayyidah Khadijah’s testimony to the Prophet’s ﷺ exceptional character, the migration to Abyssinia and the example of justice, the conquest of Makkah and his ﷺ unparalleled forgiveness, Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Qadri demonstrated how Prophetic leadership provides a timeless blueprint for Muslims.
Concluding with the profound example of the Ansar, Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Qadri challenged the youth to consider what they truly seek: the pursuit of power, wealth and worldly privilege, or the love and obedience of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. He emphasised that by reconnecting with the Seerah, Muslims can transform themselves and become a source of guidance, illumination and positive leadership for their communities and the wider world.
