As part of his ongoing USA tour, Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Qadri delivered a Jumu‘ah address titled “al-Ikhlas: Sincere Devotion Multiplies Reward and Exponentially Elevates Ranks” during the Jumu‘ah Ijtima held at Masjid Ghouse-Azam in Houston, Texas. Over 500 participants were in attendance.
Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Qadri centered his talk on Purity of Intention and Sincere Devotion, explaining that sincerity is the hidden foundation of accepted worship and the key to spiritual elevation. He asked why many Muslims spend years in prayer, fasting, charity, and other righteous deeds, yet still struggle to taste the sweetness of worship or feel the inner peace that should accompany a heart devoted to Allah.
He explained that the answer often lies not in the quantity of deeds, but in the condition of the heart. Citing the prophetic principle that Actions Are Judged by Intentions, he reminded the audience that every deed is measured by the purpose behind it. He also highlighted the teaching that Sincerity Makes the Believer Stand with the Truthful, noting that a sincere servant is raised among those whose hearts and actions are aligned with the truth.
Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Qadri further noted that sincerity can elevate even the smallest act, while insincerity can diminish the value of great outward effort. He pointed to the example of asking sincerely for martyrdom brings the rank of martyrs, explaining that Allah rewards the truthful intention even before the action is completed. In this way, he said, sincerity transforms ordinary worship into a means of nearness to Allah and multiplies reward beyond measure.
He also reflected on the wisdom of the early spiritual masters. He cited Dhu al-Nun al-Misri on the Three Signs of Sincerity and on Protecting the Self from its Own Corruption, Imam al-Junayd al-Baghdadi on how The Sincere Person Changes Constantly in devotion and self-accountability, and Sariyy al-Saqati on the danger of Beautifying Worship for People.
