Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Qadri Delivers Lecture On God Consciousness And The Path To Success In Dallas USA 2026

USA, Dallas: Shaykh Hammad Mustafa al-Madani al-Qadri delivered a special address on the theme “God-Consciousness (al-Taqwa) and the Path to Success” during a gathering before Jumu‘ah prayer as part of his USA tour.

Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Qadri elaborated on the concept of Taqwa, that it should not just be understood as "fear of Allah," but as a comprehensive internal mechanism and spiritual shield that governs every aspect of a believer's life. While Taqwa is commonly translated as "fear of Allah," its true meaning is to remain constantly conscious that Allah Almighty is All-Seeing and All-Hearing, fully aware of even the hidden thoughts within the human heart.

Taqwa is derived from the Arabic root meaning "to place a barrier," and is a protective shield between a believer and sinful actions. Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Qadri urged the audience not to become consumed by worldly pursuits. Referring to a Prophetic tradition, he reminded participants that believers should live as "strangers or travelers" in this world, comparing worldly life to a brief layover during a journey between two destinations.

Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Qadri also warned against excessive attachment to worldly possessions, describing the pursuit of the dunya as being like drinking seawater; the more one drinks, the greater the thirst becomes. He explained that those who make worldly gain their primary concern often find their affairs scattered and remain spiritually impoverished. In contrast, those who prioritize seeking the pleasure of Allah are granted richness of heart, while worldly provisions come to them with ease.

Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Qadri also emphasised that success on the spiritual path requires a balance between hope (raja) and fear. He narrated the well-known account of a man who had committed numerous sins but, out of overwhelming fear of Allah's punishment, instructed that his body be burned and its ashes scattered after his death. Allah Almighty forgave him because his actions stemmed from sincere fear of His Lord.

Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Qadri also cited the narration of a young man nearing death who informed the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that his heart was filled with both hope in Allah's mercy and fear of his sins. The Prophet ﷺ gave him glad tidings that whoever combines these two qualities is granted protection from what he fears and blessed with what he hopes for.

Concluding his address, Shaykh Hammad Mustafa Qadri outlined practical principles for achieving success in the modern world. He explained that while earning a lawful livelihood to support one's family is an act of virtue, any surplus wealth should be regarded as a trust from Allah and spent in serving humanity and assisting those in need.

The gathering concluded with a reminder that those who cultivate Taqwa, maintain spiritual discipline, and remain steadfast in obedience to Allah are promised true success in this world and the Hereafter, along with a place of honor in the presence of their Lord.
