  • London: Fund raiser for Syrian refugees

    On Saturday, the 17th September 2016, a group of MWF participants climbed the o2 venue in London. So far £6,500 has been raised with more donations still coming in. The event started with the recitation of the Holy Qur'an by Hafiz Akeel from Ashton and this was followed by a beautiful Nasheed by Sister Humaira Tabassum from Sheffield.   • MWF sends aid to Calais refugee camp

    Minhaj Welfare Foundation (MWF) first visited the camp on Thursday to assess the needs of the site’s inhabitants, before delivering food and Sunday and making today’s trip. The Newham branch of worldwide Islamic group Minhaj-ul-Qur’an, which runs MWF, has sent 30 volunteers to Calais, bringing food, medical equipment and tents.     Allama Haroon Abbasi explained the need for the program organized in association with Minhaj Welfare Foundation and requested MQI Rochdale and all its forums to participated in the arrangements and attend this program. The executives present gave a very positive response and commitment to support the program.     On March 9, Newham’s Minhaj-ul-Quran sent communication liaison officer, Adnan Sohail, who said his visit was a “real eye-opener”. “My 14-day visit to Pakistan was part of a field visit on behalf of MWF, which has been working in the developing world since 1989,” he said. “Part of my visit included a look at some of our key projects in education, health care and water.” During his trip, Adnan travelled to Tharparkar in Sindh, a region in south east Pakistan that was hit with a severe drought through 2013 and 2014 that killed 45 children....     Kitere is located in the North Easter region of Kenya. It was affected by a severe drought which took the lives of many thousands of people. This rural community is about is 20 km (almost 15 miles) away from the closest secondary school. Secondary education is not easily accessible for many people in this small village, with many dropping out of education after primary as their parents are unable to send their children to school....
